About Us
Hanney War Memorial Hall is at the heart of the two communities of East and West Hanney. It is a registered charity run by Trustees appointed by the community groups who are the regular users of the Hall. The building is owned by the Trust on East Hanney Parish Council land.
History of the Hall
The original Hanney War Memorial Hall was a timber building located to the east of the present building and was replaced in the late 1960's by a purpose built brick building. That building was extended in the 1980's and 1990's with the addition of an extension to the kitchen and Main Hall on the west side and the construction of the Committee Room, veranda, sports changing rooms, the Olde Hanney Room and the Community Shop on the east side. The East car park was added in 2005 with an overflow parking section.
Trustees
The regular user groups of the Hall are invited to nominate Trustees who form the Hall Management Committee. There are around 10 trustees on the Committee who are responsible for the management of the Hall ensuring that it remains financially viable and they oversee the work of the Operations Committee. Operations Committee
The Hall is run by an Operations Committee appointed by the Hall Management Committee at the Annual General Meeting each June. The Committee meets regularly and is responsible for ensuring that the Hall is well managed and maintained. The Operations Committee is responsible for the day to day running of the Hall and reports back to the Management Committee at their quarterly meetings.
